Jamiroquai are an English funk and acid jazz band from London. Formed in 1992, they are fronted by vocalist Jay Kay, and were prominent in the London-based funk and acid jazz movement of the 1990s. Love these guys, they were my main introduction to funk that wasn't straight up disco. And their more jazzy pieces keep all the free form improvisation I've come to expect while also being high energy and exciting to listen to. The recent resurgence of "Virtual Insanity" in public consciousness was weird, but I'd be lying if I said that wasn't the song that got me listening to their stuff. It's pretty much the only band whose music I actually seek out instead of waiting for singles to pop into my radar.
